When the Queen in Alice in Wonderland said that she “sometimes … believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast,” she couldn’t have possibly been faced with challenges at the level of what we face today, could she? Plus, we all know that believing something doesn’t make it so, right? As a people of “reason,” as we sometimes claim ourselves to be, how are we to embrace possibilities that seem clearly impossible? Join us on this Easter morning as the Christians embrace the possibility of a saviour rising from the dead. The daffodils embrace the possibility of warmth on the other side of the cold ground. All around us, there are signs that we, too, can overcome seemingly impossible circumstances to find the “sun” that promises to return again and again. Let us celebrate this morning and see if we can believe 6 impossible things before coffee hour!
