The Gift of the Darkness: A Winter Solstice Reflection led by Rev. Deborah Bennett The Winter Solstice is a time of hope. It is the time that marks the lengthening of days. Yeah! And yet…. while it is technically true that the amount of daylight gets longer after the solstice, it is also true that the coldest days of winter are ahead of us and that spring is a long way off. What are we to do with this reality? Knowing that many nights of dark are ahead, how do we prepare? This reflective service will feature an extended meditation on the gift that this time of year and the darkness offers us and that ever-burning ember of hope that we carry with us as we wait for the light.
