Centering Down: Practicing the Spiritual Wisdom of Howard Thurman
 led by Rev. Deborah Bennett

This morning, we take an extended time to practice the wisdom offered by so many spiritual leaders, including the great Howard Thurman. He called it “centering down,” and that is exactly what we will do this morning. Using Thurman’s words as a focusing tool, we will reflect on their deeper meaning, practice listening inward and connecting to the divine pulse through silence.

Searching for Solid Ground – Keeping Hope Alive

The course of history is full with stories of injustice, conflicts, and cycles of human activities 

that frustrate and sour efforts to reach what has been described as the Beloved Community. 

In short, we often live our lives on the shifting sands of sorrow and disappointment. Fortunately, we are also blessed with examples of people and communities who have risen above the temptation to give in and give up. People who have persevered in ways that provide hope and inspiration. Join musician/storyteller Reggie Harris in a celebration of song and story that recalls a simple truth: The power we need lives in our commitment to truth and each other.
