Worship Sunday, July 10, 2022 Jug Band – In-person ONLY

We will worship in Smith Hall only today. There is no on-line service.
Masks are required for in-person worship.
Jim Chapin, guitar player and leader of a jug band for the past 20 or so years will lead the service. Jim will be joined by Mark Beveridge and Stephen Conlon
There will be stories and brief snippets of history about the origins of this music that has its roots in the urban south
with African-American musicians who usually could not afford to pay for “conventional” instruments.
Join us for some spontaneity and an opportunity for brave folks to join in on some songs, with an assortment of (mostly) percussive instruments. Our goal is to share some music, and culture and have some fun.
From Wikipedia: A jug band is a band employing a jug player and a mix of conventional and homemade instruments. These homemade instruments are ordinary objects
adapted to or modified for making sound, like the washtub basswashboardspoonsbones, stovepipe, jew’s harp, and comb and tissue paper
