In Unitarian Universalist spaces, where the idea of a supreme being or beings looking over us is not shared by all, the idea of prayer, especially the petitionary kind, can feel uncomfortable. To whom or what are we praying for help some may ask. And yet, regardless of our theological beliefs, we all have the ability to use the power of our voices and intentions to call forth goodness for another. It is a true act of compassion and love to bless the space between us.
