The Sharing Locker is one of Westminster’s outreach projects and has been in operation since February 2010. We reach out to anyone in Washington or Kent County as well as Cranston residents who are experiencing a need for assistance with non-food products and/or pet food. The Sharing locker is, by design, closely aligned with the Westminster vision and mission:
- Welcome – We welcome ALL individuals and families in need to participate in our program. Volunteers greet our guests with dignity and respect recognizing how difficult it may be for them to show up and ask for assistance with items we provide.
- Connect – Volunteers serving in various capacities interact with each guest individually. Many of these connections reach back to 2010 when we first opened our doors. Periodically we chat with guests while they wait to assess their level of satisfaction with our program.
- Serve – Each volunteer, including our youth, willingly show up at our Saturday openings to help in whatever capacity needed. For many youth in our church the Sharing Locker is a vehicle for fulfilling their community service requirements.
The Sharing Locker continues to serve clients even during the current pandemic.
