Canvass

Our annual canvass provides the majority of money for our budgeted items and takes place in the fall. If you wish to make a pledge or change your pledge, please contact the church office.

A minimum contribution of record (i.e., a contribution that is identifiable as yours) is required to maintain Westminster membership. We make allowances on the contribution amount for members who need special consideration. Members can vote at all congregation meetings.

Endowment

Westminster Church's endowment committee consists of five elected members and meets quarterly. The mission of the committee is to promote growth of the endowment and to review the performance of endowment assets, the majority of which are invested in the UUA Pooled Income Fund. Income from the endowment is made available to supplement the church operating budget while principal is retained for growth.

Dine Out Books

Our entertainment books make great Christmas or Hanukkah gifts. We sell the books every year from October until Christmas for $20.00 each.

Clothing Sales

We hold two clothing sales per year, usually on the third weekend of October and the third weekend in April. People from the church and the surrounding communities look forward to the clothing sales!

Annual Book Sale

The book sale is held in March. It's a great opportunity for people to buy hardcover books for $1.00 and paperbacks for 50 cents. Our sale is so well known it even brings in dealers!

Lobster Roll Day

Usually held on the first Friday in May, Lobster Roll Day is a Westminster tradition. Individuals and businesses look forward to this annual event. The rolls are made fresh, with a generous amount of lobster meat, and they come with chips and a mint at a great price!  For orders in quantity, we even deliver.

Miles of Pennies

Don't let pennies weigh you down!  Donate them. Our congregation takes donations of pennies, and we report how many pennies and MILES of pennies have been contributed. Sixteen pennies equal one foot, and one mile of pennies is $844.80! This money is donated to the church for non-budgeted projects.

Auction

Our periodic auction this year will be "A Chocolate Extravanganza" on Saturday, February 12th, 7:00 to 9:00 pm. There will be chocolate-tasting, with chocolates from local and national companies. Members, friends, and area businesses also donate items to be auctioned.  Traditionally, the auction is a "goods and services" auction, so donated items might include, for example, home-made food, gift certificates, a day of gardening help, or a day of sailing on Narragansett Bay. This year we run the gamut from services offered to featured chocolates. The event will include a live auction, silent auction, and reverse auction. There will be something for everyone!
